Miscellany Monday

1.  We had a slumber party for our sweet girl's 11th birthday party but the party started with a girlie best friend photo shoot at the beach...

It was fun and a sweet way for us to capture her and her friends as they are right now. Our peanut as been blessed by friends who are even more beautiful on the inside as they are on the out. My face and my heart both smile when I think of it...I am so thankful for every single one of them, along with the couple who are not pictured.

These three have been on my blog before...my daughter and the other two have been best friends since before Kindergarten and it's been a gift to watch them grow up together. They are such precious souls and were clearly meant to be friends!

2.  I got another picture of this rufous hummingbird...we are buddies now (at least I like to pretend that we are because he keeps returning!) and I couldn't be more in love. The brilliant colors are incredible and each time I see him, he allows me to get closer...the closer I get, the more brilliant he looks!

3.  You may remember the photo on the top left and the bottom left.  I posted those two last week.

The first photo on the top left is of a female ruby-throated hummingbird that arrived into last year's nest, under our trellis this past February.  The picture on the top right was just a few weeks later after she had her two babies.  Our first sight was this one teeny tiny beak that appeared from the top of the nest.  A week later, we spotted two heads and beaks starting to grow upwards out of the nest (bottom left). Then, on the bottom right--just 5 days later--they were just about fully-grown!

Aren't these babies, now gone from this nest, soooooooo cute?! They melt my heart, and when I looked this morning and saw that they officially left the nest, I felt extra thankful for this photo.

I hope more come back since Spring has barely begun...they make my heart pitter-patter!

4. I saw this on Pocketfuel's website and I think it's so awesome. It inspires me to design by combining bible verses with my photos...I will post some if I decided to actually do it. In the meantime, I will happily post theirs as eye candy.

5. My kids were talking to my daughter's friend on face time today on their iPod touches. I remember when I was a kid, my friends and I dreamed of being able to talk to each other live, face to face like they did on "The Jetsons", instead of on a 1970's telephone(!).  Now, my kids are talking with their friends the exact same way.

Technology can be cool but it can also make one feel old! ;)
{For Example: "Back when I was a kid, we had to call each other on a telephone that was plugged into the wall with a short spiral cord, and we had to dial each number by putting our finger in each number hole and then turn the dial around in a complete circle, each and every single time...it took forever! And if we couldn't see someone, we just couldn't see them...you kids today have it so good!"  HA! :)}

Happy Monday!
